ID: B001 BRAKE PAD INFORMATION
More information

BRAKE PADS - We stock organic (Armstrong), Semi-sintered (Nissin NS - see picture left) and fully sintered (DP and Nissin ST - see picture left) brake pads. Organic pads are resin bonded, kind to the discs, generally quieter and fine for general road use. Sintered pads are made from metal particles put under pressure and heat, offer the best stopping power, but also cause the most rotor wear and can make the most noise. Virtually all original equipment pads are now sintered. They are also the least affected by adverse conditions and are the pad to choose for high speed and track days. Sintered pads can feel 'grabby' and may lack 'feel' at the lever. Semi-metallic pads fall right in the middle for durability and performance. A trade off between sintered and organic, they still stop well, cause less rotor wear with better lever feel than sintered metallic pads and normally make less noise.

Fits all Nissin and Triumph front 4 piston calipers on all (Apart from Brembo) Triumph sports and touring models. Kit contains 8 seals (4 outer dust seals and 4 hydraulic seals). To equilize brake pad wear, these calipers use 2 different piston sizes, 30mm (leading) and 34mm (trailing). Use silicone or rubber grease during assembly after cleaning out any corrosion from the dust seal groove. The joint seals on the 2 halves are now also included. We charge per hose with the choice of clear, black or no covering on the braiding. Popular models are stocked, others to order in approximately 3 or 4 days. Set of x3 Viton tipped float needles to fit Mikuni carburettors. These do not fit Keihin carburettors. If the carburettors are flooding, before changing the float needles, check that the two 'O' rings on the float holder (where it pushes into the main carburettor body) have not hardened with age. Triumph recommend that after fitting new float needles the float heights should be checked and set at 14.5 mm. With the carburettors inverted and the floats resting, measure from the float chamber joint face to the top of the float, this should be 14.5 mm.

More information

Float chamber seal and x 5 O-rings. All seals are manufactured from DuPont Viton to resist damage from ethanol. Float O-rings (2), pilot screw and carburettor vacuum take off O-rings. Now also with the slide block base O-ring, which we normally leave untouched and x 2 new float chamber cover screws. We know it says in all the manuals never do it, but in the real world a piece of fuse wire can be pushed through the pilot jet and pilot air screw hole, compressed air often doesn't clear the jets if blocked. It's common for the two float O-rings to harden and cause over fuelling problems. When refitting the float assembly into the carburettor body with the new O-rings, use a little lubrication on the new O-rings such as WD40. Fitting instructions included.

While ethanol mixed with petrol/gasoline is known to lower engine / tailpipe emissions, these blended fuels  increased permeation through plastic and rubber. Viton has excellent chemical resistance and helps resist these problems, but unfortunately carburettor rebuilds in the future may well be more frequent as the percentage of ethanol increases in pump fuels. If the bike is not to be used for a long period, it's a good idea to drain the fuel from the fuel tank and carburettors.

43 mm fork seals to fit Kayaba forks. These are very high quality seals, now with sprung lips on both the top and bottom of the each seal (see picture 2). .This style of seal is used on most original equipment high end front suspension legs now. The extra spring on the outer side of the seal mimimises the risk of road debris entering and damaging the inner oil seal section. Triumph for their 43 mm forks have used both Kayaba (55 mm outer diameter seal) and Showa (54 mm outer diameter seal) as their fork suppliers. YSS  Z-Series rear suspension unit with ride height adjuster, rebound damping adjuster and adjustable preload (release lock ring with allen key and rotate with a tommy bar - both included). Clutch pushrod seal located in the main crankcases under the sprocket cover. With the sprocket cover and pushrod removed the existing seal can be removed/ hooked out and the new seal pushed in. This is the most commonly sold seal as this type of seal prefers rotary motion and not the cross sliding movement of the clutch push rod. When refitting the clutch push rod, it's a good idea to reverse fit the rod, to give a new bearing area for the seal. Fits all hydraulic clutch models.

On models with a removable cover it's better to remove the cover to do the job. Replacement cam chain tensioner spring. It is recommended that the spring is replaced if its length has reduced significantly below 73.7mm. This is a much more cost effective option than replacing the complete tensioner assembly. To change the spring, acces by removing the large central bolt. The tensioner does not have to be removed. Removing just the central bolt still allows the ratchet mechanism to retain the existing tension on the cam chain.
